Leopold provided environmental consultant services in support of the SANDAG Bus Rapid Transit project.  Leopold's Environmental Planner drafted a regulatory permit application and attended project design team and agency meetings.

Our team quickly determined a proposed impacted site was previously mitigated at an off-site mitigation bank resulting in the amendment of an existing California Department of Fish and Game Code Section 1602 Agreement.  No Clean Water Act Section 404 Authorization or State Fish and Game Code Section 1602 Agreement for Alteration of a Streambed permit was required, resulting in saving the client time and money.

The proposed South Bay Bus Rapid Transit is a 21 mile "rapid" bus route extending services from the Otay Mesa Intermodal Transportation Center near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry to Downtown San Diego.  The extended hours of operation, very high frequency and new vehicle design ensures a faster more comfortable, convenient and relaxing alternative means of transportation from residence to employment, shopping, schools and businesses.  This is especially appealing for those who commute from south San Diego County to work or attend large events held downtown. A few amenities  include upgraded interior, improved riding quality and WIFI service.
