SAN DIEGUITO MONTHLY BIRD COUNT

Leopold Biological Services' Principal has been involved with the San Dieguito Lagoon monthly bird count (SDBC) since  its inception in 2010 and the Penasquitos Lagoon monthly bird count over the course of 22 years.  The data we collect has contributed to restoration and breeding efforts benefiting natural resources such as the California least tern, Ridgway's rail and Belding's savannah sparrow.

SDBC is held the first Sunday of each month, meeting at 7:30 am, the south end of San Andres Drive in Del Mar.  All are welcome!

Since August 2011, Ms. Harvey has volunteered as an avian specialist with the San Diego Natural History Museum preparing, aging and sexing avian specimens for the permanent collection, assisting with the gray vireo breeding bird survey and collecting breeding and migratory avian species utilizing mist nets for the Grinnell centennial resurvey of the San Jacinto Mountains.
